Default Star Wolves 1 steam version and french localization help

Hi,
(i hope this message will pass trhrough modération :/)
So I have the steam version, it's English only. I know That there is a French version of the Game named Star Wolves: Corsaires de l'espace.
I found some files of the french version but when applying .loc files Inside mission folders the result is not what is expected. It seems the Game is missing the rights .fnt and tuv files which contains the bitmap font and the coordinates of the letters in the bitmaps.
Can someone help me with that ?

Where did you found these files that you talked about?,

Where did you put them?

Did you allready Extracted the Files found in the .dat in the \DATA\ Folder and Deleted the .DAT?

What else did you try to this Point?

By the way: You can forget to get an Admin/Moderator on here, They just Ignore this Forum the best the can, I don't why... Maybe you have more Luck Sending an PM to some Active Admin/Mod here on the Forum.

Hi,
I found the files somewhere on the forum of the steam version of the game.

It contained the french voices for the game (ogg files), the .loc for the menu,interface etc as well as the .loc file for each Level.

Basically the files I have overwrite the LocData\English directory adding 2 more directories in it named Voice and Levels.

here is an example of .loc files:

other files with differents nammes contain other translation regarding mostly ui.

these text.loc files are the problem here. In game, the display of their content do not work. Instead, the plain content of corresponding .fnt file (ie: simple renamed bitmap image) is shown (the full content of the file is displayed for each character in the game dialogs/objectives).
These .fnt files are in the LocData\English\Data\Texture\FONTS directory along with their .tuv friends.
A .tuv file is a table containing the coordinates of each element (letter if you like) inside the pairing .fnt file


Ok so I have 2 problems here.
1) is the text.loc files are somehow ciphered/XORed or whatevered hexstrings and they are containing the translated texts.

2) .fnt files I have only contains ascii characters + cyrillic (russian). So you can think that if I modify these files I can add them the missing characters (like ç,é,è,à...) BUT even if I do that How to "map" this in .tuv files and that the game "understand" this ?


I didnt extracted the .dat file until you mentionned it in your message ^^
So I did it and discovered many interesting things I have to investigate but still I do not know how to properly "map" my characters.

Update to my previous post:

I found the right .fnt and tuv files. Ie the ones with latin1 characters
So now the interface, menus and in game news and missions windows are in french. BUT the problem of the dialogs in the upper screen box as well as objectives ( at least inside the training "mission") remains, the upper box showing nothing where the text should be, and the objectives showing the whole "ascii table" contained inside int00.fnt (or int01.fnt dont remember wich one it is)

Maybe my text.loc files for the missions are corrupted, I dont know, I have no way to decipher them :/

But half of the game is in french ^^

The whole ascii table Thing also happened to me Some Times, I Don't know why it is doing it <.<, Probably some Corrupted File.

And Yeah... The Developers made their own damn Encryption Tool to Pointlessly Encrypt these Text Files...

I Didn't play around with SW1 in a long time, But Im gonna reinstall it and Try to get some more Information out of this.

Yeah... The 1C Forum Suffers from alot of Spam-Bots, when you get some more Posts it should be Fine... Hopefully.
