Default IL-2 1946 directx9 to compatible

[FONT="Arial Black"]Hello All.

I have been having humungous problems with IL-2 Sturmovik 1946. It won't install (I thought at first it had). I just caught a glimpse of a sign that said. Directx9 is not compatible with this version of Windows.

So it appears this is why I can't get it to run.

How can I overcome this problem, as it's a darn good game (I had it running some years ago on a different computer).

Any help at all will be really appreciated.

Further to my message above I have found some excellent news.

IL-2 STURMOVIK 1946 is available and playable on W10. Go to www.gog.com where the game can be picked up very cheaplyand it plays as it should....no missing cursors.
