Default While we're waiting for the Korean Airwar sim

I've gotten my hands on two books about that airwar:
* "Crimson Sky The Air Battle for Korea" by John R. Bruning. Published by Potomac Books, Inc.
(www.potomacbooksinc.com). A short read. Given from the American perspective, with more emphasis on the CAS and tactical role of fighters and fighter bombers from the USAF and the Navy. There is some of the "frustration" of using the F84 as close escort for B-29s, only to be easily outclassed by the MiG15s, and of the strong efforts put up by Soviet pilots to attack the bombers while the Chicoms and North Korean Mig pilots circled above Sabre jets, keeping them on the defensive instead of being allowed to intervene. I really enjoyed the ground-pounding aspect being covered by the book. There's even a torpedo attack on a dam by Skyraiders!

* "Such Men As These. The Story of Navy Pilots who Flew the Deadly Skies over Korea."
By David Sears, published by Da Capo Press (www.Dacapopress.com). If Any of you have seen the movie "Bridge over Toko-Ri", it was adapted from the book of the same title written by James A. Michener. He was a writer aboard a carrier, and even flew a mission or two, and that experience prompted him to write the fictional account of air combat duty from aboard an aircraft carrier.

I recommend both of these books, and might even give Michener's book a whirl too. They make me wish I'd kept Rowan's MiG alley, and make me long for a new simulation effort on this air war.
